Space and light: glass walls are the new stars of the house

Whether they open up to the outside or act as internal partitions, transparent partitions are an excellent solution for letting natural light circulate through the rooms, making them more pleasant and optically larger

Inside and outside, the dynamics of balance

Contemporary design and architecture have long worked in the constant tension of dialogue between inside and outside. Domestic space and the natural environment are in a dynamic balance, made up of reciprocity and interconnections, all linked by a main thread, light. Windows, corridors, entire walls are admirably crossed by light, to the benefit of our gaze and of a living that reflects our personal return to a harmonious relationship with nature.

New buildings or renovations: glass is the real star

Whether we are talking about new projects or renovations of existing buildings, contemporary style suggests intensive use of glass walls. Boundaries are broken down, light is free to flow through spaces as it pleases. And the thermal, acoustic and safety performance is always excellent, thanks to truly innovative solutions. The high degree of customisation and aesthetically minimalist structures ensure that rooms can be used optically, whether they face outwards or have internal partitions.

Interior walls: how to reorganise light for better room brightness

Each house has its own specific characteristics and properties, but in each we look first for natural light. When the exposure doesn't help us, a good solution could be to let the light circulate between the different rooms, with transparent walls

The glass wall - transparent, satin-finished, processed as desired - is a smart solution to separate a large room or to obtain privacy only on certain occasions. It can be useful for separating a kitchen from the living room, preventing smells from entering less dedicated rooms. Or in the case of en-suite bathrooms, as found in many hotels or some Nordic homes. And finally, the corridor, which is often a blind area that should be highlighted.

Continuity between rooms: glass walls

Glass walls are true windows: closed, they allow natural light to filter in and flood different functional spaces. When open, they connect not only exterior and interior, but also adjacent rooms that can benefit from boundless volumes, such as the kitchen and living room. The aesthetic possibilities are many, and vary according to the style of the house, the size, the space available for openings and closures.

Living room and kitchen: transparency without boundaries

A glass wall between the kitchen and living room is a good compromise between the various possible options because:

  • The two rooms are still visually communicating, thus allowing light to pass easily from one wall to the other, even in the case of single exposure;
  • It prevents kitchen smells, fumes and vapours from contaminating the living room sofas and curtains;
  • It can become a sort of screen, an element that maintains privacy and perhaps hides the most untidy or less clean areas when preparing meals.

The transparent walls can be proportioned or full-height, generating different aesthetic solutions.

Bathroom, bedroom and walk-in wardrobe: many bright solutions

The bathroom is the room in the house dedicated to self-care: we are therefore naturally inclined to delimit its surface and try to create an environment which maintains privacy. An opaque or textured glazed wall allows that see-through effect which also makes it easy to achieve natural light in a difficult environment like this.

Bedrooms can also benefit from the pleasure of natural light, thanks to transparent partitions that delimit their functional areas or that frame the walk-in wardrobe, letting our wardrobe show off.
