The 5 coolest designers of the moment

The love of architecture and design is not limited to the appreciation of products or installations, but includes a constant search for new trends, the most innovative materials, and technologies that can improve our lives and those of our communities.

Architects are important points of reference, illustrious minds of the present and the past, but at BI.CI. we have our own preferences: we would like to point out to you the five most important names of today, those who ride the trend and interpret with an elegant key the flow of creativity that surrounds us every day.

Garcìa Cumini Associates

An artistic duo that blends different cultures in a multi-disciplinary approach: their balance between art and design, with a special attention to the soul of objects, gives life to excellent productions, essential in style, rich in technology and with a deeply contemporary style.

In collaboration with Agape he has created Vitruvio, a series of modular mirrors with a delicate luminous circle inscribed in a reflective square. An elegant design that fits harmoniously into any environment, illuminating its spaces and architecture.

Among others, he boasts collaborations with Poltrona Frau, Cesar, Foscarini, Zanotta.

Ora ïto

Multifaceted and innovative, Ora ïto is a young designer who is well known in the worlds of architecture, fashion and retail: as early as 1997 he was working with Louis Vuitton and Apple on products with digital content, a forerunner that reveals how his thinking is projected into the future.

Decoding the DNA of the present to understand and conceptualise the mutations of the future: this is his guiding principle, combined with surprising fluidity.

For Cassina he has designed a versatile and dynamic chair with a light profile and immediately recognisable forms: Sedia ICO. Among others, he boasts collaborations with Cappellini and Zanotta.

Forma Fantasma

An all-Italian but Amsterdam-based duo, in which materials and their alchemical interaction become fundamental to each project. The product takes into account social, ecological, historical and political forces, for a definition of design that is totally immersed in the present. They have participated in Dutch Design Week, Salone del Mobile in Milan, Abu Dhabi Art, Icff in New York, Design Miami/Basel; their objects are in the Victoria and Albert Museum and Vitra Design Museum.

For Flos, they have worked on light and its many forms, creating products with a balance between art and design, with minimal elegance, easy to fit into contemporary spaces.

The Wirering Bianco lamp is a conceptual, clean and graceful luminaire. Its delicate curvature represents an iconic element, a pure form that rests on the wall.

Michael Anastassiades

An ongoing challenge to the laws of physics: Anastassiades' lights play with a language so essential as to seem abstract, overturning the grammar of the lighting world. Pure geometric elements that run on tracks, metal cables that create apparently precarious balanced sets.

Anastassiades for Flos

From his London office, he designed the Copycat lamp for Flos, an aluminium sphere machined from solid and gilded with a 24K gold bath, combined with an opaline glass diffuser. Its balance transforms the entire lighting experience into a form of meditation.

For Roda he designed the PLEIN AIR 006 table: an element for outdoor spaces with perfect geometry. The clean design and linear steel structure echo the idea of minimalist luxury outdoors.

Federico Peri

Subtraction and simplification, to a form so essential that it aspires to eternity: Federico Peri is a young designer with a refined touch, who loves the highest quality as much as the simplicity of forms. He boasts many collaborations, all with top-level companies: we like to remember his Modulo project developed with CTO lighting

His latest projects include the 29th floor penthouse of the Breda Tower, where his spectacular Halo chandelier stands out: the first of a limited edition for Nilufar.

Minimalism and simplicity today rhyme with luxury: from architecture to interior design, an awareness of design and a wealth of execution that makes every concept of beauty absolute. Are you also a design enthusiast? Leave us a comment, we would love to meet your favourite designers.
