Vanity Fair Armchair

Poltrona Frau

Leather / Wood / Fabric

Description:

Officially called "model 904" but known, since 1984, as Vanity Fair, this chair has over time become the very emblem of Poltrona Frau. The design, which went into production in 1930, seems to have been reworked from drawings left by Renzo Frau to his wife Savina.

The highly volumetric configuration of the Vanity Fair armchair has made it one of the universally recognised icons of Italian design. Also available in a "baby" version, exactly two thirds the size of the original, Vanity Fair is also a comfortable ottoman.
The Vanity Fair armchair has a solid seasoned beech frame. The upholstery uses either hand-moulded vegetable hair or rubberised horsehair, and the seat cushion is in goose down. Seat, back and armrests are sprung with hand-tied biconical steel springs attached to jute straps. A row of leather-covered tacks finishes the back and sides of the armchair. The upholstery can be in Pelle Frau® leather or fabric. Numbered series with 24 Kt galvanic bath gold plate.
